Is there any other way for paying for college, beside a private student loan? I am a 28 year old male loser who will be getting my associate's degree after this spring semester is over. The problem is the fact that I am currently living with my sister due to not being able to receive enough student loan money to live on my own due to attending a community college. My high school grades were terrible due to the fact that my parents were going thru a divorce and they wouldn't support me in any way with regards to going to college directly from high school. Long story short, I was stupid and joined the Marine Corps, got out, and have absolutely ZERO skills that I can put to use in the real world. I bought into the recruiters' bulls*** about the military supposedly providing you with valuable transferrable civilian work skills. I am currently living in Colorado Springs, Colorado and, for the sake of my mental well being, need to be able to transfer and move to Austin, TX so that I can attend UT. One of my goals upon getting out of the Marines was to be able to find someone to settle down with and it WILL NOT and HAS NOT happened for me due to living amongst the socially unfriendly and cold women here in Colorado. I desperately want and need to get down to TX where the people and single women are friendly and down to earth. The problem is the fact that I don't currently have the $3K to move down there and it is very hard to save money when most of my GI Bill goes towards bills. My estimated payment currently are $246 for the next 20 years (238 payments) which is almost $60,000 I have to pay back in the end. So they are charging me almost $40,000 dollars to borrow $20,000. Does this sound logical? I am hoping they made a mistake with my payment plan. BTW, I have almost 28,000 in federal loans too so my payments are looking to be like $500 dollars a month. How do they expect people to live with these high student loan payments?
Can I use a federal or private student loan to cover my living expenses? Can I use my private student loan to pay for my apartment's rent/utilities/and my other personal living expenses? My parents have agreed to pay for all of my college expenses, but they said I will have to find a way to pay for my apartment and living expenses. Is this doable? If so, do federal student loans and/or private student loans cover these costs? By the way...the apartment is not affiliated with the university...so the apartment doesn't count as "room & board" does it? Please help me!
Just accepted to college for fall term and computer is going on the fritz.. private student loan? Is there a particular loan that covers personal college related expenses? I have filled out the FAFSA and I am hoping to pay for school with grant and loan money, but what can I do for personal necessities like this? can anyone refer me a private student loan program here in philippines? i am a former student in a public university here in philippines and i would like to transfer to a private school so i can continue my desired course cause my former school would not allow me to pursue my course with them. commission on higher education has a student loan program but its not enough for me to cover the tuition fee and other expenses that i will be incurring in my future stay in private college. so im looking up now for a private student loan program where i can borrow the exact amount that ill be needing to finish my courseand ofcourse i prefer the loan which has a lower interest rate and could be repaid after my graduation or atleast after half time stay in that college. please help me.. thanks..
