College Loans (From Chase ... or wherever)? In taking out a student loan from Chase, I was wondering if you know whether or not they help you with summer school as well as with the Fall and Spring semesters? If not, are there others that would help you with summer?
Chase private student loans / Student loans through college.? I am planning on attending Alvernia University for Physical therapy which takes around 6-7 years. However, obviously I don't have the money to pay for this cash because, it would cost me around 26,000 a year. So, could someone please tell me wether or not you think some kind of institution that gives student loans would approve me for 6-7 years and let me defer the payments until after graduation, please help ?
How do college loans work? I am currently looking for a college loan and have applied for an Education One Loan through Chase. The terms are full deferral with 4.5 Deferment Period Margin. 4.5 Repayment Period Margin and a 7.50 Loan Origination Fee Percentage. Interest is Accrual beginning on Disbursment date on each day divided by number of days at the Variable Rate. The Variable Rate is the Current Index plus a margin. Does this mean my interest is 7.95 (market) and 4.5 Margin..eg. 12.5% from the origination fee of 7.5%? I need help understanding how much this is going to cost after college. Regards, Bryan agreed. i dont want to get anally raped either. it seems like 12.5% yearly rate and a 7.5% charge on the front end. Seems high..although it is a private long term loan. I figure 14% a year in the stock market..with a trust fund building. I dont want to pay 200% in 5 years. That would be extremely high. I need this in a quick figure so I can figure out my best option. Not worrying about it...is why im getting the college loan. obiously...im looking for a private loan. i dont want to have the restrictions of a federal loan. im a rich kid. i dont live cheap.
I was turned down for a college loan from JP Morgan Chase, where can I go now ? After applying I was turned down, however they say they might reconsider if they can be convinced. What can I do to show them I desperatley need this loan as a single parent of three trying to finsh my last year of of college. I hve no one else to borrow from to pay off this college debt. I already work two jobs and every penny is spent even before I get it sometimes. Where else canI look for funds to pay off debt from school?
What banks offer Private Student Loans for College Students without a Co-signer? I am a senior in college and I am a college student. I have no credit because I'm still a student however am about to graduate college but just need a little help.. Please, anyone who knows of a Bank other than Bank of America and Chase please help me out. Thank you so much for you time and consideration. Cheers
Dropping out of college/ Student Loans? I'm a freshman in college and i have a chase student loan. i was curious can i drop out before second semester starts. and only pay for one semester and not the rest?
Using Loans to pay for an Apartment in College? I am a full time student in college moving to New York City, to continue taking classes full time at a community college. I can get Chase Student Loan to cover the tuition at the community college, but what about my apartment, which can cost $1000 a month? Community colleges do not offer on campus housing, so I cannot use my Chase Student Loan to pay for housing. I am assuming I will need to take out a private loan. -Which banks and private loans are great for us college kids? -Can I take a loan without a cosigner (parents do not agree with me moving out), and which banks offer the lowest rates without a cosign? I do have a good credit rating: 745. -I have FASFA and TAP, the remaining balance is paid with my Chase Select Student Loan. I am 21 years old, good credit, and will be a senior this semester. -I am working, and will be working part time, but I don't have the time to make enough money to comfortably pay for an apartment. Thanks!
Hello all. I have a quick college loan question? Between the following 6 banks, which one will be the fastest in processing my stafford college loan: Chase, CollegeInvest, Citibank, US bank, ASAP Union Bank and Trust. Thanks for your time guys.

How does a Chase Student loan work? Is it a good deal? I'm a 4th year college student at Louisiana State University and this year I am having financial problems resulting in me probably not having a way to pay my rent at my apartment. I've receieved many letters from my bank (Chase) informing me about the Chase Student Loan and how I can get up $40,000 a year or something and I was curious if this was a good deal or if the Chase student loans had a bad interest rate (I don't know what a good one is...) and other details. I have normal credit and am only 21 but I was thinking about going into Chase this week to ask them about the student loan. I'd probably need to take $5,000 out to pay rent this semester and I have 1 or 2 years left until I graduate. I've been receiving Stafford loans and Pell grants thus far because my parents don't make very much that that money covers books, students fees, etc... and I have something called T.O.P.S. which pays my tuition (it's specific to Louisiana). Any information or suggestions is appreciated

anyone know about college loans? lets say i take out 15 k a year for four years 60k total, i defer and pay when i graduate. how much intrest or whatever, like how much will i have to pay a month do you think dealing with astrive chase and whatever one?
Private Bank loan or college loan? Since I can't afford my college tuition (Polytech University in NY, around 33000 dollars), I need to get a loan. I'm considering two types of loan, one is the private bank loan and the college loan provided by a college. My college works with Chase. And my private bank loan is also Chase. So, are they basically the same? Or is the college loan different?
Do you know of any fixed interest private student loans? My husband is in college and we are looking for a private student loan to help pay for some of our living expenses while he is in school. We are looking for a private student loan with fixed interest, but I can't seem to find anything. The only loan that we are remotely interested in is a private loan by Chase bank which is a little more lenient on how the money can be spent, but it has a variable interest rate. Do you know of any similar loans with a fixed interest rate?
After my college pays for tuition, can i take out another loan for expenses? my technical college will provide a loan for the first 2 years i am there before i transfer. I am currently jobless (i am looking hard) and carless, i have to drive to school 6 times a day for 2 days a week, and i was looking to buy a cheap car or motorcycle to get to school, instead of getting 12mpg in my dads truck. i was just wondering if i could apply for another maybe private student loan through chase or someone like that?
How can I get myself out of this college private loan debt?!!? I owe over 200, 000$$ in private college loans!! I am going out of my mind. The phone calls won't stop, they are calling my parents (cosigners) threatening to put leins on their house, they call my grandmother, my place of work, everyday. I have tried forbearance, most of the companies have denied my request. I have tried making small payments, they still harass me. I'm getting "pretend" court documents threatening to take me to court. I've been told I can't consilidate. My parents are doing everything they can to pay the companies, but we're also having a problem tracking all of the various different companies that have my loans, as they keep changing. First one of the loans was Chase, then magically it was Wakovia, then next its student collegian trust. I have a degree, and worked hard to graduate but have found it impossible to find better employment, I am only making $11,000 dollars year and I'm working 2 jobs, 6-7 days a week. When I started school I was in a competative major but by the time I was close to graduation, it was too late to change, and the job market began to go sour along with the economy. I can't even get the aid to go back to school for my Masters. I tried getting into peace corps, teach for america, got rejected. My roomate is tryign to get into Navy reserves and was told that there is a long waiting list. DO I HAVE ANY OPTIONS!!???? OR SHOULD I JUST WAIT FOR THEM TO COME TAKE ME AWAY??!! I have private loans through about 8 different companies. Sallie mae, chase, astrive, citi, private source are just a few, along with I guess now Wakovia, and Student collegiate Trust, which i just found out about. bankruptcy is not an option, it does not affect/cover private or federal loans unfortunatly attacking my post and my integrity does very little to solve the problem. All the information given is correct and concurrent with my tax information for this past year.
Chase bank private student loan? Should I apply? Please help, need to pay off $17,000 for college.? I'm 19 and I want to transfer to another college, in fact my main concern is applying to a 2 year community college as I am really not in a good position to continue at my private university. I live in New York City, I was told I cannot go to classes until I pay off what I currently owe which is $17,000. FAFSA and TAP covered the rest but for me the school is too expensive, almost $40,000 a year. I was also told by someone that I cannot apply to another college until I pay off my current debt. I am doing everything on my own since high school, so you can imagine why I am so lost when it comes to this. I'm the first in my family to go to college and I sure do want to graduate. I don't know what other economical help I can get so I figured I should just apply for a loan. In order for me to start studying at a new college I have until December to get applications done, and I wanted to know if applying for a loan takes a long time? Will I be able to get a loan before January(Actual date of classes starting next semester)? I don't want to lose any more time. I went to Chase.com and I'm currently about to fill out a loan application, but is this a good one to apply for? Any other one you'd recommend? How long does it take in order for me to get the money? I really hope I can go to school in January.
Aggregate limits on private undergrad student loans? I've heard from Chase, Citibank, and a few others that their aggregate limit is 120,000 for private undergrad student loans. But, my college is particularly expensive and I get little to no federal aid for my educational expenses. I'm worried about hitting my limit before I graduate. Are there any private undergrad student loans that have an aggregate limit of over 120,000? Or is this number for everyone? I could have sworn that a few years ago when I was looking at schools that the limit was higher...
Is there a catch for taking out too many private loans? I heard from a friend of mine, that if you take out too many private loans for college obviously, they will terminate you from taking out another one forever until its paid off. Is this true? Because i have taken out 21,000 this year so far for school and next year i need to take out more because of room and board.....Please let me know so i can relax...the lender iam under is JP Morgan Chase
Chase high school vs college account? I have a high school account, but now I'm in college. I recently opened a college account, thinking that I could only get loans that way and it might be better than a high school account. However, I don't really see any differences now, and it's a hassle now to have 2 bank accounts. Should I delete it, or just keep it? Also, would it ruin my credit score if I deleted an account? Is it possible to transfer all my money to one account, and leave the other at $0? I don't know what I should do :/ Are there any advantages in having a college account? For my high school account, I won't have to pay fees as long as its linked to my parents account. Please help!
can anyone help me with this project about college? I am doing this project which consists of writing about life after high school and into college. i am having problems with the "financing college" part, which asks me to describe 3 college finance lenders (so far i'm thinking "Chase", "Citi", and i need one more) and reasearch, compare college loans, and describe the length/terms of the loan, finance percentage rates, and the advantages of having a cosigner. I am puzzled because wouldn't i have to apply for the loan first in order to know this information or is it online (on their website)?
How can i pay for college? I've tried to get grants and I don't qualify for them. Last semester I got lucky and my parents paid the tuition but they've been holding it over my head every since. I've tried to get student loans through sallie Mae, chase, think financial, etc and I don't qualify. I tried to have my parents co sign for me but it didn't work. What else can I do besides taking out a regular loan? I tried scholarships but i didn't get any. i have a job and i've been working my ass off to pay for this semester and am not going to work for the school for minimum wage when i'm making more at my current job.
how does student loans work? I never took one out before and i would like to know how they work. so far i only know that student loans repayment does not start until graduation or 6 months after graduation. my questions are: 1. are the loans affiliated with school? or are they separate private entities ilke citi, chase, etc 2. how does the loan get to me? does it come by check in the mail and i cash it and pay it to the school as if its like my own money?, or do i have to provide proof of the tuition bill first in order to get the loan money. 3. what are the requirements to get a student loan? i am almost done with community college and im going to a 4 yr school in the fall. is it a complicated processs and does it take awhile to get through? thank you all for your responses.
I need help with student loans? Long story short since 2007 all my mail has been destroyed/hidden/kept from me. Everything. Why this is important is because I am now finding out that i am close to $70k in debt with student loans. See at first it just didnt add up i went to a private college for 1 year. I failed out, the college at that time was $33k a year, now when I brought this to the attention of the account holder/loan distributor/bill payer of my college that year, she told me that all those scholarships -- because i failed out turned into a giant loan equaling $26,737, that i now have to pay back to government. How I found out about all this?? Around Christmas Chase Bank sent 2 letters that I just happened to find in the garbage (i was looking for a ring i thought i lost while throwing something away) The letters unopened with my name on them, SO I opened them and Chase Bank said that i have 2 accounts and that by calling this number provided i could seek help on making payments, so I did, I called that number and they transferred me and the woman i spoke to was pure evil, she demanded $45,123 that day. I freaked out and said I thought this number was supposed to help me? She said no, you have to pay this outstanding accounts theres no way around it. So she started calling the person who co-signed on the loans and demanding the money, see i thought you had to receive some sort of notice some sort of chance to repay loans? i dont know being as my mail has been kept from me since 2007, and i was told by my schools that they wouldnt start sending payment options until i had been out of school for a year, beginning 2011 would have been my full year out of school so i was waiting for the letters to come so i could start making payments, i never got them, i asked and no one knew what i was talking about i tried to figure out from the bank but the person who is joint with me blocked all access from me. i cant even put a $1 into that account without her being present. And yes I am really this clueless because of the person who did all of this kept me in the dark on purpose hiding destroying letters, any opportunity i had to make payments is now gone, I know nothing about financial, nothing at all. all i know how to do is pay the bills i have now on time, i know that if i dont pay for gas my car wont run, thats the extent of my knowledge with money, because this said person kept me from a lot growing up, cant do anything but listen to them. i am financially stupid and you are supposed to be able to trust said person because that person owns you. I guess what i want to know is how do i go about getting information and how do i start making payments because this is in my name and i want to take care of it, said person took away any chance i had to make it right the first time and now im almost positive its too late for a lot of it. So the Chase Loans are "Charged Off/Written Off" -- what does that mean and is there anyway to reopen them and make payments? They didnt negotiate any form of payment with me Christmas '11, so im not sure what else i can do?? The Government loan, that is supposedly "my scholarships" I still have time to start making payments but I only make $600 a month, so I was wondering if anyone knows how I can get in touch with IBR to start making payments based on my income. Also is it even possible for your scholarships that you earned turn into a giant loan if you failed 2 classes? (The college I went to is completely paid off, there are no bills to them whatsoever). I just need help to get me started on what has been taken away from me. I know it cant be too late. Please dont be hateful, if you want i can explain my situation further in an email, but i seriously had no knowledge of any of these loans except one chase loan that i never received letters for. I know it is my fault and i know its my responsibility i will be making calls on monday to get everything started so i can get my life back i have too much to live for, a man that loves me and i wont be able to be with him without this taken car of, i want a life, i need this taken care of and i thought this could give me a headstart into monday considering i have no idea what to do or look for. Yes this is the VERY short verison of everything i have been through in the last 6 months
Chase, Citibank, or other for student college help? Do you think I can get a $5,000 private student loan with any company with a 537 FICO score but with a cosigner who has a good FICO score? Astrive doesn't have my school listed, don't wanna use sallie mae and Suntrust.
How will my credit score or credit look after I get student loans? I don't know what my credit score is exactly, but I think it should be pretty good. I'm 20. I got two Chase credit cards. They got $2,800, and $10,000 limits. I paid off my car, I didn't co-sign. So I should get full credit. I put down 12,000, and I had like an $8000 loan. I'd had my Chase credit card for like 2 years for the first, and the 2nd i've had it for 1 year about. I've always paid on time. I've always paid in full. Chase has increased my credit limit like 500 dollars each few months to 2,800. I got a 10,000 business card from chase. So right now I'm debt free. Pretty much. Except the credit card balance but I pay in full each month. Anways. What will happen after I get student loans? I don't think I qualify for too much financial aid since my parents don't meet the requirements I think. So i probably will only get a little bit of free money right? and mostly loans? Anyways I live in California, so if you know how college loans work that would be ..great. How do these loans work anyways? After I get these loans for college. I don't know how much school cost at UC Davis or Santa Barbara. But once I get these loans. Will my credit score or whatever be better, or worst? The reason why my credit is good i'd say is because i lived with my parents for two years so I had less bills to pay. I also saved money going to a community college. But once I go to a university it won't be all that fun any longer. With huger bills that will take a while to pay off. What should I do? And how will my score look?
Chase Freedom Credit Card Gross Annual Household Income Question? I am trying to apply for the Chase Freedom credit card and need help answering the annual household income question. I have a Chase account, I am a 24 year old college student, live with relatives, and don't work. Source of income: grants and loans. How would I calculate my income? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers mates So sorry I should have added that I have excellent credit and have an AMEX credit card for years now
Recent College Graduates wanting to buy a home? My husband and I graduating from college in December and we are wanting to buy a house by Feb. We currently live in an apt. on campus and they give us 90 days to move out after graduation. Would we be able to buy a house? We both will be staying with our same companies (JPMorgan Chase, and I work for a local hospital system). Since we plan on staying with our current companies, how long would we have to be making our new salaries? We've talked with a lender and she said that they would accept letters from our companies that show our new salaries and we could buy in Dec. without having to wait. I have good credit and my husband has excellent credit. Our credit consists of credit cards (AMEX, Mastercard, and a few store cards), one auto loan (we had another, but we paid it off early) and a good amount of student loans that our parents co-signed for us. After graduation, we will be making at least $85,000 combined.. my income varies (I will be a RN). We want to spend 140k with 4k down.
where can i get a auto loans without approved income? i'm just turn 18 on march and i'm still a student(independent).I need a car so i can go to college but i don't have a job.And the bank (chase ) didn't accept for my application for the auto loan. Please help me out, thank you!
Can I become the primary of my son's private student loan? I cosigned with my son on three separate private loans from Chase, all deferred until the end of this year. I'm wondering if Chase would allow me to become the primary on his loan with my wife as the other cosigner? I'd like him to not start off with any loans right out of college since he is also hoping to apply to law school, where he'd probably have to apply of another loan with his wife. Thank you in advance.
A Bunch Of Qts Re: Private Student Loans. Input appreciated!? Now that it is getting close to the Fall '08 semester, I am getting ready to apply for private school loans two weeks from now. Returning to school in my 30s to finish my degree. Yes, Federal, scholarships, etc have been maxed out. Is it best to apply in person vs on-line/over the phone? I plan on stopping by the new Citibank branch in Harvard Square for my first attempt. Have you heard any positive or negative feedback on any of these that I'm considering: Citibank, Chase, Wachovia, Campus Door, Nelnet, Suntrust, Edamerica, Wells Fargo, US Bank, SunTrust Bank, Student Loan Network, Discover, StudentLoans, Campus Door, College Loan Corp, My Rich Uncle, Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (anyone use this state-bases lender)? Who are the biggest and most secure lenders in the industry? Anybody use peer-to-peer lending? I plan on attending graduate school after undergrad. Are all private loans deferrable until after grad school? Is this a common feature of any private loan or does one have to be careful that although it says payments begin 6 months after the 4 years of undergrad, that deferment is extendable if one attends grad school? Any info on credit scores, Fico, finding out which lenders pull which score (TU is my highest) so I can target those lenders? Best to apply to all the lenders in a single two week period, so it hopefully only hits one's credit report once? Or is it best to apply to only a select few lenders because each time you apply it lowers your credit score? Do you have a preferred lender list of companies from your school that might be useful for anyone to use? What kind of terms in loan offers should I beware of? What mistakes have you seen people make? I should look for a low APR, no origination fees, discounts, rebates, etc? Know of any other websites or books covering private student loan that you can recommend? As always, any useful information at all is very, very much appreciated. Thanks. Rags P.S. Let's not start a the-evils-of-private-loans thread here. There are enough of them around. I know the dangers. More detailed answers, please. Not just Citi is evil. Tell me why in detail. Awesome, Woolfie! Awesome Woelfe!
Should I choose a Chase Sapphire or Chase Freedom Card? I have excellent credit (~750 as of a month ago) with a few college loans to pay off. I pay my balance in full every month, but my current credit cards offer little to no perks of any kind. I have a decent salary with little fixed expenses and I would like to sign up for some sort of rewards/cash back card... what should I go with? The cards I am interested in are the Chase Freedom and Chase Sapphire Cards. Sapphire appears to be more travel oriented, but I like the option of acquiring rewards through preferred vendors. However, I feel the Freedom card might be a more pragmatic option for a younger card user that doesn't travel as much (I travel home from DC to Florida about 6 times annually). Do the added perks of the Sapphire card (aside from travel) make it a better option than the Freedom card? Thanks!
Where is the best place to get a private student loan today (Citi, Chase, Sallie Mae, others)? I am looking to take out a private student loan for my final year in college. I do not have any previous loans and will be looking to take out at least $30000. Which bank would be the best to go to (interest rates, length (15yrs?) chances of receiving the full amount?) I am still unestablished hence will most likely be signing with a cosigner in good standing. I have been looking around and it looks like with the financial crisis, Citibank, wont be the best choice. What are your opinions on Sallie Mae and Chase Student loans. I am looking for a well established loaning institution so please do not reply with offers other than industry leading institutions.
Consolidating student loans? I graduated from college 3 years ago and have a 20K student loan to pay off which is consolidated. Currently I'm paying 3.75% which I think is a little high. My lender is Chase. I'm not sure about how loans work, but is it possible to go through another lender that would give me a lower interest rate? Does it work like a "Refinance".....how does it work....would Chase transfer my loan to them and I start paying a lower interest while also paying my principle? thanks
How hard is it to get a $1000 loan (no credit)? HI, thanks for looking at my question. I'm looking to get a $1000 loan to pay for a car through chase bank. I'm 18 and I have a chase college and a savings account. I have $2000 in savings. The only problem is I've never had a credit card or done anything that requires credit. Wouldn't they turn me down if I don't have any?
Could I get a student loan for student teaching even if I'm not enrolled in college? I graduated college with a B.A. back in 2008. Now, after moving to El Paso for husband's job, I have decided to get certified as a teacher. I am going through an alternative certification program (ACP) which means I have done training and classroom observations, but I am not enrolled in a college nor attending university classes. Most of my accreditation work has been done online through a well-known Texas ACP, A+ Texas Teachers. Now I am ready to student teach (your basic internship--lots of work, no pay). Before I student teach I have to pay the program's fee of $3500. I need to get a loan for this, but I'd like to avoid private loans. (Husband has one from Chase from his college days and the interest rate is killing us.) Do you think I qualify for a "student loan", with the accompanying deferred payment? Which institution would be the best to contact regarding this? Since I'm not "in school" I doubt I can use the FAFSA. If I don't qualify for a student loan, who would you recommend I seek out? Thanks.
Can I Purchase A Laptop With A College Student Stafford Loan? I'm heading to college in January, this will be my first year away from home as I am transferring from community college. I understand that I need $6,000 from a stafford loan to cover the rest of my tuition and I was considering applying for an extra $2,000 for a nice computer/laptop. Will a Stafford loan cover this or will I have to take out a private loan? (also, I applied for a private loan with chase and got denied even with a co-signer)
Stafford, Perkins loans, Banks, Interest rates?!!! HELP!!!!!? I got my award letter from the Uni. I applied to. I really just wanted grants, and scholarships but they gave me a Federal Sub. Stafford loan to,and my reaction was W.T.F.! I'll looked everywhere to find out what I'm getting myself into if I accept the loan and to make a long story short it's like I'm reading a foreign langauge. Someone Please explain to me in layman's terms what are the pros and cons of a Stafford and Perkins loan, and out of these list of banks which lender is good. AMS (A Sallie Mae Company) BancorpSouth Bank of America Cadence Bank Capital One Student Loans Chase Citibank Citizens Bank of Philadelphia Edamerica Education Services Foundation Sallie Mae Education Trust Student Loan Xpress The Student Loan People Wells Fargo The Stanford loan is for $5,500.00 although since I'll transfering as a junior(went to a comm. college first and got a AA degree) I know I'm going to eventually need atlease 2 or 3 more semesters of loans.
Private student loans...bad credit? I applied for a chase select loan today and my application was denied...I got a loan from them my last two years of college but since then my financial situation has changed. I have a credit card that I'm a few payments behind on...I know...bad, but I'm starting a payment program on the card this month. But my cosigner has excellent credit.I don't know if the credit card is the reason why I was denied, they wouldn't tell me over the phone, I'm supposed to get a letter in about a week. I'm already getting Stafford loans and NYS TAP grant. Without the loan, there's no way I can pay for my education. So my question is do you guys know of any banks who are more lenient about the student's credit. Would it help to discuss my situation with the bank? Also NYS has another student loan called NYSHELP, does anyone have experience with that loan, do they expect your family's income level to be pretty low?
paying off loans in the future? I am using loans from fafsa for college and I am borrowing from chase bank. What should I expect after college. Are they going to send a bill every month until I pay off my loans. How do I know where and how I can pay off my loans. Can I start paying off my loans now? What are additional information I need to know about paying off loans. I have subsidized and unsubsidized loans right now
Loans for young business entrepreneurs? Does anybody know which major banks (Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo etc) are the most young entrepreneur-friendly? I am 23 years old and my partner is 22 years old, and as recent graduates of college we are looking to open a small business around our college town, and we need a loan.
I am currently in college and need to find a student loan to pay for it ASAP? My school offers the SunTrust loan, Chase Bank and wells Fargo and i don't qualify for any of those because i have bad credit. i have been looking since august 26 for a loan to pay for school and haven't been approved for any because of my credit or because the loan i used before don't exist anymore. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. I FEAR I MAY BE KICKED OUT OF SCHOOL IF I DON'T PAY BY THE 1ST OF OCTOBER! DOES ANYONE KNOW OF LOANS I CAN GET WITH BAD CREDIT. MY CO-SIGNER HAS EXCELLANT CREDIT. THANKS
Any student loan companies still offering to 2 year colleges? I called Chase today to renew my student loan and they dropped my college. So did Citibank. I'm in a pickle here. Federal money isn't available to me. Anyone know of any company still offering a student loans to a 2 year college (edison community college)?
How can I build my credit history? I am a college student, already in my 2nd year.I applied for two loan ( chase and salliemae) and got denied. I got denied because I have no credit history. I reuse to sign with a cosigner because my parents have VERY bad credit history. So how can I build my credit history or what loaning company is easy to get through.
Student Loans For People With Really Really Bad Credit!? Ok so with a new school year beginning I am in need of a loan, just like 90% of the US college students, and of course I have been denied just like most of America with bad credit! I was a victim of idenity theft back in 2001 and its runied my credit miserably. I have been unable to pay off my debt because i have been in school, and not working! My family of which have bad credit so they cant co-sign.... So obiviously I have no co-signer! Now here's my issue I am transfering to a University thats about 35,000 a yr. My Finanical Aid & My Stafford Loans only cover so much... so i have had to resort to a privite loan to cover the rest of my fees, my books & my computer costs.... The problem holding me back is my bad credit!!! (which wasnt my fault might i add, yet i'm being punnished for it!!) I have been turned down now by 4 different loan companies: Wells Fargo, Chase, Astrive & Direct Loans....I am at a loss of what to do..... Does anyone have any advice or ideas for me? I already have a FAFSA award, a Pell Grant and a Stafford Loan...these were not enough to cover the costs!! i still owe the school almost 10,000.... I have compiled hours and hours of exhausting the internet and I still havent found a bank willing to take into concideration my situtition....Thus why I resorted to posting here..I AM OUT OF OPITIONS
Credit limit $500, need $100 what do I do? Ok, so I have a credit limit of $500, and my dog was sick she had to go to the vet and have emergency surgery so that was EXPENSIVE, so I have $187.00 left on my credit limit, sadly I need 275.00 to pay my tuition for college because Chase Student Loans wants to take their sweet time. I will be able to pay the balance off this Friday. Will I be able to go that $100 over. I have a BB&T Student Platinum Credit Card (Visa). If I dont pay my tuition I dont get to start school....PLEASE HELP!!! i have not had my credit card long enough to get the limit changed.
Sallie mae student loans? I'm attending North East Wisconsin Technical College this year and my financial aid is not going through, the only place I can find to give me a private loan is Sallie Mae. I already have a 30,000 dollar student loan through chase, so I know the interest rates will be high, I'm just wondering if it's any type of scam or if theyre a legitimate bank and everything thanks for any advice.
Question regarding private student Loans? I'm currently 19y.o. and I'm about to go back to college (finished 2 years at ITT Tech and now have a balance of $30k w/ Sallie Mae). The school that I'm planning to go to is LA Film School which costs $42k in tuitions. Now I'm hoping to get the maximum I can get from grants, scholarships, and the Sallie Mae federal loans but I'm going to be short that's for sure. It's only a 1 year program and they tell me it's probably not a good idea to get a job during the school year since the program is pretty heavy on the student. I'm an only child with a Mom that only makes $25k a year. She also has a lot of bills, bancruptcy, etc from the past so I'm unable to use her as a cosigner and I don't know anyone else I can use. So I was wondering where I should apply for a private student loan. Citibank, Chase, Bank of America, etc, and if they will allow me to borrow $20k+. My credit score is currently at 711 (FICO) and I'm very good at paying things off on time. Thanks for the help!
Student Loans for College Expenses? I have borrowed the maximum amount of Federal loans for my college tuition, and applied to several lenders (Chase, Citibank, Wells Fargo, Sallie Mae) for a private student loan. But I have been turned down because of my bad credit, and my cosighner's credit is somehow not good enough, even though it is good. (around 670-700). What other loans are out there for me? Are there student loans that don't need a cosigner, besides Federal ones? I'm in need of alot of assistance.
How would I go about getting a student loan for off campus housing if I'm attending a community college? Well right now I am trying to get into Coconino Community College and it is in Flaggstaff AZ but I live in Phoenix AZ so I am going to need a loan to pay for an apartment and thats really the only problem. I contacted my schools financial aid and they said they could not help me with it soI also called Sallie Mae and Chase bank student loans but both said they could not help me because my school does not do direct loans with any of them or for off campus loans at all. I really have my hopes set on Flaggstaff so I will not chose another school. I am hoping to transfer to NAU in two years. I do not have a job because I just graduated high school and moved out here and I dont think I could get a job in Flaggstaff unless Im there for interviews and everything and thats well over 300-500 miles from me. So how would I go about getting a loan for these living expenses with all these problems? Thank you for the help.
Do I have to pay off my student loans as soon as I graduate from my current college OR..? Okay so I need to take out a student loan and I need to know if I have to start paying off those loans as soon as I graduate from my current college...OR if I could start after I graduate from grad school... right now I'm in a 2 year transferring over to a 4 year CUNY. And I plan on taking out a loan from Chase Because I've been hearing that you don't have to start paying off anything yet just so as long as you're still in school.
What's another option if I can't get a cosigner for student loans? I go to a private college. My parents just recently divorced. My mom stopped working when she had my brother and me. FAFSA won't give me money because I still count as "dependent" until age 24. They also ask for both parent's info . My dad isn't helping me with my school and he makes a lot of money, therefore I can't get FAFSA help. And I can't continue my student loans because Chase decided to end their partnership with my school. And the only way to get loans from other banks, is to have a cosigner and I don't have one. I don't have a bad credit, I just haven't built up my credit to the amount that the bank would approve. I can't drop out of school, if I do, the loan process will start. And I wont' have money to pay back right a way. What are my other options?
Need help with student loans!? Hello, I am starting my second year of college September 2nd. Last year I filled out a FAFSA and was awarded a $5500 loan that I could take out and a loan that covered the difference (roughly $14000) that my parents took out. This year I filled out the FAFSA and was awarded a these same two options, however my parents are unable to take on another loan at this time. I have applied for loans that were suggested by the university and I was rejected for each one. This includes the lenders: Chase Bank, Discover Loans, and Sallie Mae. I was rejected instantly even with my parents cosigning. My parent's credit has really taken a hit since the recession started so I was wondering what would be the best option for me to get a loan for school? Should I have my parents cosign even with their bad credit? What options do I have because I am pretty desperate at this point? Thank you very much, Pat
If I overdraft by $800 in my Chase checking account, how big will my overdraft fee be? I really want to enroll in another class at my college, but my loans have not come through yet (and will not until the 11th or so). I need to enroll and pay for this class before the eleventh. If I pay with Paypal and it goes through before the 11th, how big of an overdraft fee will I be charged by Chase? Is it any different from the normal fee? Will the payment even go through...? Ugh. So I basically can't take this class? What a bummer. I hate this school... :(
Where should I open my bank account? 1st time getting a bank account- mainly it is a place for my College loans to go in. Would like most trusted bank-some in my city are -CHASE -US bANK -BANK OF america and Wells Fargo.... if you have had or heard any complains with these banks you should tell me-- will eventually want a savings account..in which one could i get a better rate of accumulation?-- THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

Mainly this year because of the Gov.'s budget cuts...they have virutually demolished the extra state funding for public instutions
What are the best and worst components of being a high school teacher? I've seriously considered being a teacher for the past 5 years and I'm always finding excuses. If it helps your answer at all, I'm a 28 year old white male. I currently sell mortgages for Chase in Florida and have been in the loan business since college. I have a theatre management degree and was a stand up comic for 6 months out of college.
Will I qualify for a $15000 auto loan through chase? I applied for a auto loan at Chase this morning, for a brand new truck. The woman said to call her back to check the status this afternoon, she didn't return my call. I work part time, making around $14000 a year. I would need to finance about $15000, the truck msrp is $21,165. I live with my parents and I am still going to college, no rent or major bills. My credit score across the three agencies is 727, and on my credit cards (5), the most im using is 33% of the limits. The waiting is killing me, is there anyone who is familiar with autos loan through chase? Please do not tell me to save for years and then pay cash. My current truck is starting to have major problems its 12 years old, which i refuse to drop 3k in a car that old. With all the incentives and rebates now looks like a good time for me, especially with the Cash for clunkers.
Going to college in a month+ and I need a car??!!! Can I use a school loan? I might go to a community college or a University...Whichever one comes 1st...I need a car to be able to go where I need to go and work...I am only 17 and I will be 18 in about 40days.......I have no credit and I was wondering can I get a student loan with chase or something?? I need a car quick!! I want to put a down payment down and pay a monthly note....And my moms credit is not very good....What should I do.....HELP!!! I live in Tennessee!!!!!!
College Student...No Money..Little Credit. Need Car...HELP? I'm 19 and attend the University of Cincinnati. I need a new car my 1989 Chevrolet is no longer reliable. I found a Hyundai for 5000 dollars. I've checked it out and it's a good car. My total net worth is $3500 dollars. I have had a credit card for 1 year now and the last time i checked my credit report it said Never late Fast pay and showed my 3500 Stafford loan. My parents have awful credit and cannot cosign for me. WHAT DO I DO? My Credit card limit is $2000. Any suggestions? I've thought of some ways to make this purchase but they're kinda shady. I want to keep $500 on hand for maintenance/gas/insurance type stuff. How do i play with the numbers to make this work? Other Info. I was denied a CHASE loan because they said i dont make enough BUT I do. They didn't take into the fact of my summer temp jobs. Now I make approx. $300/month(I'm a full time student) but in the summer I make at least 5644. In a year I make 8344.
What to do about student loans? Hopefully someone here can give me some help I am in a really tough situation. I took out large loans when I was in College to pay for everything since my parents made minimum wage and it was the only way I could pay to go to school and survive while attending school. I own a total of about 140k or so in Private Student loans, note that these are not federal loans these loans are owned by Banks such as chase, Clout etc.. Anyhow, with the cost of living in NJ and my salary currently received a 5% cut due to a new incentive by my company to try to save jobs and I am drowning. My fiancé and I work together to pay for everything but these loan payments are ridiculous I make about 40k a year now and there is absolutely no way I can make all the loan payments plus the living expenses and other things that I need to pay. My credit score has been completely destroyed because I defaulted on some of the loans that I managed to get back to normal but they are catching up and I am at a loss for answers. My biggest fear is that since my dad was my co-signer for these loans these sharks are going to go after him, as I stated before my dad makes very little money an hour and I feel terrible if any of them got to him. If I file for bankruptcy can I take these private student loans of my back for a bit? I desperately need help, my phone is bombarded by collectors day and night, as matter of fact I don't even check my voicemails anymore because I know who they are from. All help is really appreciated!
GOVERNMENT ONLY STUDENT LOANS???!!!!!! WTF...ve? OK i dont know everything about it but apparently they are taking over student loans. so if i want a loan, i have to go to the government. and when you are done with college they want you to get a government-based job for 10 years to pay off the loan. and if you dont you will probably have an ungodly intrest rate. so no more going to the community bank or chase to get a student loan..... WTF USA?!?!?!?!? this is socialism and 1984 at its finest. so i have to get a state-run job, to pay for all the illegal peoples welfare????? or pay and extra huge fee? for going to school?!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need to wake up our generation. this is soo messed up.

Should I start taking out loans for college? I am thinking of taking out a private student loan through Chase ( I know it's 8.6% interest or something) or if it's not impossible, a loan through a car dealership. I'm 19 years old and I'm a colleges student with scholarships that pay for my tuition. I work 3 jobs and make $600 a month but am looking to use that for living expenses and gas. I need to buy a car, around $4,000-$6,000; something that won't cost me more repairs than the price of the car. We don't have dorms at my university and apartments cost about 480-700 around our city and the outskirts. I am thinking of taking out a Federal Student Loan to pay for rent and possible emergencies ( I can get up to $8,000). I am a stickler when it comes to saving money. I am looking for a second opinion here. Do you think I should take out the $8,000....use it for rent/bills for the year and take out a private student loan for a car? I'm moving in with a friend so hopefully it won't be too expensive. Please don't encourage me to live at home. I tried. I come from an abusive religious family that never wanted me to go to school in the first place or have a career. I was told to go die and go to hell. I got disowned because I refused to change my college evening courses and give up working. I am not leaving to go to parties or get tattoos and rebel. I have over $13,000 in scholarships and I worked my butt off because I'm passionate about what I want to do with my life. I also work with AmeriCorps and will have 2 more scholarships coming in. What is your opinion on all this?
Chase select vs. Citiassist for student loan? I'll be freshman in college this semester. Besides Federal aids, I want to know alternatives as well such as private loans. My school , Michigan State University, recommends Chase select and Citiassist for private student loans. Which one's better?
Which co. has the worst customer service? Is it Comcast, AT&T Mobile Service, DELL, Chase Credit Cards, or ACS Private College Loan, or the V.A. Tiger Team who investigates claims from veterans of our country's war. Be objective and give an example.
Is my only choice a private loan? Well im starting college after this summer and need some money for tuition, a car, and a laptop. I dont think any of the federal loans would allow me to use the money for those things. No, I do not have any alternatives right now. So far I looked at the chase private loan and it looks like I could pretty much spend the money on anything, but I bet the intrest is crazy. Theres no way I could use the chase private loan ONLY for a car, laptop, and other small expensives and use a federal loan for my tuition? Then I would be paying TWO loans off after college right? Thanks for any help. Ummm no. With a chase private loan the money goes right into my bank account, and can be spent on anything pretty much, and I do not need a cosigner. And whats the point of telling me "dont do a private loan"? I have no other choice. There is no way I could use a federal loan to pay for a car, laptop, and other living expenses like gas etc.
If you had one month left to live what would you do? I know its been asked 100x but everyone gives different answers! Me personally I would drop out of college, get a massive bank loan and do everything i've ever wanted to like sky diving, subba diving and drive a porsche. I would have a lot of parties and on the final day i would start a high speed chase in my porsche and go out with a bang! Obviously making time for family in friends throughout all of this. How about you? How about you?
Reasonable salary as a first year Licensed Personal Financial Representative (personal banker) at Wamu Chase? I am a recent layoff from Merrill Lynch. I was making $50,000 right out of college...very nice and helpful to payoff my giant heap of student loans. As the job market really stinks right now, I am considering a Personal Banker position at Wamu Chase. I am taking it primarily so that I can use it to take evening MBA courses and eventually move into corporate finance as an Analyst. What is the pay for this position...I know base salary is $35k...I'd like to know what the real net salary comes out to be including commissions and bonuses etc. And how tolerable is this position. I am decent at sales and have good people skills...
I start college in September 2009 cannot find a private student loan, recommendations please? I have tried WellsFargo, they keep turning down my cosigners. I had 2 people that have a high credited job with excellent credit and they were denied. I used to go with sallie mae but the only have the smart option loan which you have to pay your interest while attending school. SallieMae took over 3 weeks for my information to be sent to me but then I read that I would have to pay the interest so I cancelled the loan. ALSO have tried citibank, chase, discover, pnc they do not cover my school.
Stafford Student Loan? I am about to choose a stafford loan lender. if anyone know which of the following could be the best student loaner out of these. Nelly Mae. CollegeBoard. Univesity credit Chase bank Bank of america, Sally Mae, Wachovia, Wells Fargo, Sun Trust Bank, Key bank, college Loan Corp, Student Loan Express, A+ Funds ? I would appreciate any feedback or tips for choosing the right one. Thanks
What is the necessity for never-ending advertisements? Do we really have to have commercials blaring at us constantly from day to day to day? They have almost completely taken over every facet of our senses. We see billboard after billboard, commercial after commercial. The incessant repetitiveness of these campaigns are useless. Sure...it's cool to announce a new product, or even an improved version. But why are companies worldwide spending millions of dollars on the bombardment. It already costs a lot of money to make the commercials and to get the broadcasters to air the promotions. I always enjoy seeing the Super Bowl commercials and i really think that is where the line needs to be drawn. On average a half-hour television program is only 20 minutes long. the remainder of the time is spread out from beginning to end for commercials(personally, i'd rather be watching the show that is on, than to watch some stupid commercial on erectile dysfunction and the little blue pill that can make it all better or the stupid accident lawyer commercials that really make me wanna get into an accident just so i'll have the chance to be killed or what about the condescending college commercials? there's another reason to commit suicide). That's ten frikkin minutes that could be added to the program itself! Commercials on our radio waves are just as bad. I find it really amusing how radio stations will get their Top DJs to promo their segment's sponsors. That itself is just a shortcut in advertising to curb but a meager fraction of the cost. Not to mention when i listen to the radio i want to hear a nice run of music. Not stupid commercials with a music break in between. i have this weird feeling that should advertising be brought down a couple of notches, the major companies would probably to be able to lower some of their prices on the merchandise they over-pay to advertise as it were. Advertising has us chasing things we don't need with money we don't have(which is where them payday and car title loans advertisements come in). Advertising is designed to convince Consumer America that they cannot live their life sustainably, or will never be considered successful, or will never be able to satisfy their wife without that particular product. The problem is that Consumer America believes them! How is it that we as a nation can be so gullible and naive? It's a never-ending, vicious cycle of deception. Perhaps i didn't explain myself correctly. I was basically asking what is the need for all this repetition in advertising. You see all these companies boast of their long-standing tenure in business. So, if we know they are here, why do they need to constantly announce their existance? I couldn't really care less whether or not this is a competition...and i really couldn't care less whether or not our advertising protocols are "tame", as some people tend to view this monstrosity. The fact of the matter, and coincidently my point, is repetitive advertising is useless and moot. Consumer America doesn't suffer from Alzheimer's (although i do believe Consumer America suffers from Down Syndrome) with our short-term memory out of synch. We can remember things...we don't need this bombardment. "Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy [stuff] we don't need." -- Tyler Durden
college loans and scholarships? I am looking into some college loans that are low interest and can be re-paid after graduation but I am not sure which type is the best. A specific bank ( Chase, Citibank..) or the well known Stafford loans? Also, what are some scholarships college freshman can apply to? I am planning to get an apartment near school and the cost of everything has turned out to be a little more than my parents can afford. Thanks!
Private Student Loan,No Credit Check,Co-signer if so and Full Deferal......? All of the above is what Iam looking for, all that is in the title. I looked all over yahoo and google I FOUND NOTHING. I have a co-signer and they did a credit check and denied me. I went through Astrive, Chase, National City, Alternative College Loan, and anything that went through TERI (loan provider that is on every site in small print on the bottom of the page). Im basically screwed if I cant find a loan company that will take a co-signer but with NO CREDIT CHECK, grace period after graduation payment option, and where the loan doesn't go through the school your attending it goes directly to you. FYI: I had loans before with the same co-signer but this time his credit messed up for a some months (21 to be exact). Because they said (loan companies) if you have 21 months of good credit then your approved. But when this month came his 21 went bad and we were denied. The man im talking about is my fiance. Please help me i need it for my tuition for the Fall (august 25)
Student Loans? I am a college student with NO credit because I just turned 18. My grandparents have bad credit so that kinda avoids me from using them as a co-signer. Do anyone know where I can apply for a student loan without a co-signer needed. I tried Sallie Mae but I was denied. I also tried Chase. Majority of them I tried it said my co-signer had to be working and working for atleast 2 years at the same job. My grandmother is disabled.. Someone help. College is very exspensive and I have come to far to drop out.
Chevy Chase and ChexSystems? I have a Chevy Chase Checking Account, and I had 4 transactions of less than $10 and they charged me an additional $35 for each transaction. Now, I owe them $174 ASAP. I'm a full-time college student and I cannot afford to just let them have $174 right now. They said that if I dont pay it, my account will be closed and I MIGHT be reported to ChexSystems. I dont really care about opening another checking account because I am also with Navy Federal Credit Union and have been with them for over 5 years, NFCU is my MAIN bank. Chevy Chase, for me, was just more convenient because they have a branch at my school. Are the consequences with ChexSystems bad if I take about 3 months to pay them the $174? Or should I just ask my friends and family (and get hell for it) to loan me the money and get it paid off asap?
Which is the best to take out a loan from? I am a college student and i am going to have to take out a loan for next semester. This is the first time I have ever did anything like this and I dont know who to take the loan from. My college has a couple of private lenders listed like the Academic Answer Loan from Suntrust, Chase Private student loan (non-certified), Sallie Mae Education Trust, Chase Select Private Loan, Sallie Mae tuition answer (non-certified), wells fargo colligiate loan, discover private education loans, wells fargo education connection loan (non-certified), discover private education loan, and CitiAssist Loan. Which one should i choose? Would it be better if it was non-certified?
Getting a new computer for school (through FA)? i'm interested in getting a new computer for college, and have no money to buy one at the moment, what is the best way through either loans or FA for getting me the new computer. i was thinking about getting the laptop through my bank loans (chase), would that be a bad idea?! whats the best/alternative way to acquiring my computer with out having to pay now.
student loan MESS.? so here's the deal.. i was going to itt tech.. got a private student loan thru chase bank. well, itt turned out to be a total SCAM, to say the least.. i'm considering dropping out BEFORE i owe them eight billion dollars for a damn associates degree.. so here's my question: obviously sallie mae (the devil) is going to know i dropped out.. yet, i am going to register for community college.. now am i going to have to start paying back the chase loan immediately? i don't know how this works.. i have until november of 09 (when i was supposed to graduate from itt) until i even have to start to pay this back... which, by the way, a fifteen thousand dollar loan turned into me paying over fifty thousand with a minimum payment of two hundred and forty a month... i just don't know if i can transfer the school on this loan. any feedback will be appreciated immensely.
