Does the parents of college students usually co sign for loans? My friends son and his ex wife has asked him to co sign for a college loan which is not re payable until the year 2012. I do not understand college loans and he has asked me what I think of it. He believes he may be getting himself into some kind of a financial trap. I did not know a college loan required a co signer. Does it? He already payed for his 1st years tuition and his dorm fees and all that stuff. I do not want to give him mis information, but clearly he is concerned. Who do we ask about this for sound financial advice? Do you know anything about college loans for an 18 yr old child? Do you think he is being ripped off? Do the parents co sign a college loan for $6K not repayable for at least 5 yrs?
Are there cost of living loans for college students? I am a full time college student and I work part time. I don't make enough money at my part time job and I have a house payment and other bills. I was wondering if there were loans for college students that would cover personal expenses other than just school. I would also need one that you wouldn't have to pay back until I graduated. Any suggestions?
40% of college students never make loans - they pay cash? This was on the Dave Ramsey show today. Which I honestly never really believe - I am not a fan. But he stated that 40% of college students never make college loans. Their parents pay, and they help by getting part time jobs, etc. Your opinon on this statistic. How could he have flawed it? I find it hard to believe that there are that many people out there with real money to pay for their kids college. Could it be that they are taking equity out of their home? Since interest rates are so low, instead?
What percentage of college students take out loans? Due to personal beliefs I've decided to not participate in the ROTC program at my college, and I've lost the tuition to cover my expenses for the school year. My parents are giving me a hard time about it, saying that many students have scholarships to cover these expenses already, and that not everyone relies on loans. I've earned one scholarship so far and am on financial aid, and going to an in-state school which has reduced me costs to $6000 a year, which is pretty good going to a Public Ivy if you ask me.. I want to prove to them that not every student has full rides or pays for it straight cash. Does anyone have the numbers/facts on this data when it comes to loans?
Should there be a student loan bailout to help college students with overwhelming student loans? If banks got a bailout, why not college students? The Occupy Wall Street protests are hitting a nerve.A dearth of jobs, overwhelming student loans and soaring health-care costs are just three major issues protesters have targeted. And regardless of politics, economic data suggests they're not alone in their frustrations. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/These-Occupy-Wall-Street-apf-914957440.html?x=0
What is the interest rate of loans for college students (and expected future cost)? What is it now, and what's expected at about 2012? Any students that borrowed money; were you able to pay it back? Does the rate depend on how much taken? I don't have any savings, my parents won't let me get a job currently, and I intend to move out when I'm eighteen which means no support from them. I terribly want to attend a good school, but it's unfortunately expensive out-of-state, and I don't think I can apply as an independent.
College students' loans? & question about bills? I often hear people around me complaining about their student loans from medical school with high tuition, etc. My question is, do you try to pay your own loans by yourself or do you get help from parents? Does it matter if you're born in rich family? What will happen if you can't pay your loans for a very long time? One more question, people pay bills throughout their lives, so what do the common bills they pay come from?

College students: loans for college from myrichuncle.com? Has anyone heard of or even worked with this loan company? I've just recently learned of its existance and was wondering if I should go through them to get a loan for my rent costs during college. Any imput is great, thanks I already get all of the federal/state loans that I am possibly eligible for through FASFA... including a work study program. Do College students realize that obtaining Student Loans does not mean their tuition is "free"? What is your opinion about why College students perceive that obtaining Student Loans and Grants means that their education is "free" when it really is not? What does it mean to you that most prospective College students believe that "everyone" uses loans and that doing so is the "normal" thing to do? What alternatives do you believe are realistic options to prepare for the cost of College? Do you think colleges should offer "payment plans" to students directly through the school?
What affects of no economic bailout have on current and prospective college students? What affects would the $700 billion bailout (or no bailout) have on college students with student loans? If no bailouts, would college students have difficulty getting a student loan. What will happen to those who already have a student loan? If bailout is passed in congress, what affect would it have on tuitions? Thanks, (I am very nervous since I am a college student and don't have much money)

how does declaring bankruptcy work and college loans? I am a college student I have NO ONE to cosign for any type of loan I can't seem to find work even at burger king or mcdonald's Bills keep piling in and with interest...yeah, you know where I am going with this.... My main concern is this...If I declare bankruptcy how will that effect me getting the government student loans with I need in order to go to school Since Mikey was so unbelievable rude and insulting in assuming I don't try to find work, I decided to add this note. 1.)I live in a studio apartment (no room for roommate have no job, can't afford to move) 2.) I live by the bare miniums, no cable, no internet (I am at school using a computer) Just electricity and my phone which I need incase someone want to hire me 3.)I do not over reach my capabilites, I apply for jobs I should be able to get...I can't control who hires me and who doesn't 4.) I apply for at least 5 jobs a day...That'd be 25 jobs in a work week, and I follow up on everyone of them ~If you have any rude or snide comments like her, do us both a favor and just don't answer this question!
If i paid for college with student loans, will i get spending money from the loans? someone i know told me the other day that i could go to college using student loans without having a job, but when i ask this person how do i get spending for food, personal items, money for gas to get to classes, money for health insurance, etc... how can i pay for all that without a job & this person told me that the government will give me back money for those expenses if i use student loans? it all seems to be too good to be true to me, it's a little fishy to me! i mean is any of this actually true? please answer me, i am so confused!
College loans for students with no co-signer.? my school lowered my financial aid substantially this year and I need a loan to pay for school. My problem is that my parents refuse to co-sign- so I have no co-signer. Are there any student loans that are easier to get than others? I really need to pay for school! I'm already working myself to death to pay for rent and food and stuff...
Can college students w/ loans get food stamps? I am planning to be living off a scholarship, get a loan for my living space, and do as much work possible with a college schedual but would it be possible to get food stamps while doing this? Since for the most part I expect to be living off the loan.
Do many college students pay rent with student loans? I'm trying to work my way through college without racking up a ton of student loan debt. I've known a lot of students who only work part-time, but live on their own without roommates and still have the money to pay their bills and buy clothes and other extras. Some of them have told me that they have trust funds, or their parents help them out, but I don't know most of them well enough to ask how they afford it. I've also known a few students who used their student loans to pay their rent and then worked in the summer for extra cash. Is this fairly common? I wish sometimes that I didn't have to juggle working full time and taking at least 12 credits every semester but I don't want to graduate with a lot of debt. I think I'd rather be tired and have less of a social life now and have more later. I am just wondering how other students do it.
Disadvantages of cosigning college student loans? My best friend just asked for me to cosign her student loan because none of her parents can do it. I would be willing to, however I do not know how this may affect or disadvantage me. I know that if she does not pay in the long run I am reliable for paying, however, other than that how else can I be affected? Does it go on my credit? Anything else I should know before cosigning?
Taking out Student Loans for College and Secondary School? Next year i plan on transferring to a UC school to finish up my last three years of school. Provide ideas on how to cut your college costs with regard to student loans? USA congressional bill HR5 is being discussed today, but it only lowers interest rates on "some" college loans, and only saves a person $6.42 per month over 6 months yet 225 representatives are in favor of that bill. Please suggest better ways of saving money with regard to college education since our reps don't seem to understand the situation. emails accepted so that I can submit those to congress. actually I was looking for answers like: schooling and working at the same time; going to community college for two years and then going to a senior college to finish your education; getting grants; like telling colleges to cut their bills and not charge so much......so what are YOUR ideas so we can submit them to congress.
