College Loans And Grants Knowledge Base
Does anyone know anything about emergency college loans/grants? I had to take this semeser off of school because I owed money before I could register for classes. Needless to say I did not have it. I came back to my parents house to work but it is unrealistic to save up the amount of money I need to go back to school. I have tried loans but I have no credit and my parents have bad credit so we get turned down. I have been turned down by family members as cosigners. I have one year left and I just want to finish it up.
College: Loans? Grants? Scholarships?! Help!? I am about to start college soon and I have no idea how I'm going to get by. Here are some of the things I am worried about: How do I get loans out? How would I pay for these loans? What are scholarships and how can I get one? What are Grants and how can I get one? Please help me out and thank you very very much in advance.
grants to pay off college loans ? I wasn't accepted for any federal grants when attending college as I was still living at home and my parents income isn't low. Here's the issue, my parents where not going to help pay for college, so everything went onto a loan. Now that I graduated, moved out, and have a kid I'm still stuck with $10,000 in loans. Are their any grants or programs that will help with this? Is the pell grant I couldn't get before available for after you graduate to use on loans?
I am 16, College Loans and Grants. Help!? i am 16 years old and i think i posted a similar question, but theres somethings i need to know that NO ONE has answered, and it is very frustrating. I am 16 years old, soon to be emancipated, and then i am leaving from NY to go to college in long beach, CA. Yes, i know it sounds like a big step and that ateen cant do it, but when i am emancipated, i will be considered an adult, and have many adult privelges and responsibilites like being finacially independent. I need to now EXACTLY how loans work, how long it takes to get them and what they can be used for, and how much i will get. I need to know how Grants work as wel, how much, when, and what they can be used for. to my understanding loans are used for books and what not for school, and grants are used for your living expenses and stuff. I wont be staying in a dorm but i will be getting an apartment by myself, hopefully finding a good roomate. If you want to e-mail me my address is travolta730@yahoo.com, any help would be great!
Where can I get help with College grants or additional loans? I am going back to school, and I am eligible for financial aid (loans) BUT since I already have Bachelors Degree I am INELIGIBLE for Pell Grants. Where can I go online to find a grant or loan to helop get me through the rest of the balance?? I still owe about $3800 and I'm on welfare w/2 kinds and NO job...What I am going for now is Surgical tech and has nothing to do with my old degree (meteorology)
college loans and grants? Hi. I'm an entering freshman at UC san diego. The tuition is around $22,000+ I'm only getting around 3500 in LOANS. Why did i get so little? and i did not qualify for cal grant. i would consider my family middle class. and 18k is a LOT of money. it'll be really hard to pay. Was this enough or was there an error?
College Loans and Grants!!? So I am going to school part time in the fall. I received some grants but need to take a stafford loan as well. I was thinking of taking an extra 1000 out so I can work a little less. If I take out more will it lower my grants?
financial aid, loans, grants, etc. for college? Will someone please tell me the difference between FAFSA, loans, private loans, grants, scholarships, financial aid packages, gift aid, merit-based aid, school loans/scholarships, federal loans, federal grants, etc and etc? There are too many different terms for everything; I am not sure which ones mean the same thing and which ones don't. What I don't understand the most is the difference between a scholarship and grant. And does the word, "financial aid" mean, anything that will help you pay for college, including loans from like... banks? Also, it'd be appreciated if you could provide sites/sources for financial aid, etc. Thank you.
Are there any program that will help one pay for college besides grants and loans? I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems. It is really hard to find a job in this field in this particular area and I don't have the funds to relocate right now. I was thinking about going back to college to get a degree in nursing or education. I am unemployed right now and would definitely like to start college in the summer. If anyone have any solution to my problem please help me.
Will I be able to live off of college grants and loans? I am enrolled to start college this fall, full time. I have a couple learning disabilities that made me nearly fail high school, but now I have doctor's diagnosis of my illnesses and so the college says they can help me do better now. I have worked full time for the past 3 years since I got out of high school, but really want to focus as much on school as possible as it will probably take me a lot more time than the other students to do as well as I can. My FAFSA EFC is 0, and I live in Minnesota where there are state grants available too. I've got all my paperwork in and I am really anxious to see how much money they are going to decide I get for the year. I am hoping to get enough to take a lot more credits next semester(this semester I am playing it safe with only 13, want to see how it goes first). With a Pell grant of 5500, the ACG of 750 and subsidized student loans of 3500, that makes 9750...my tuition for the year will probably be around 6000 with books if I stay around the minimum for full time enrollment(12 credits). Is it reasonable to assume that I will even get the 9750? Or will i possibly still get a considerable state grant too? I am going to community college if that helps, and I live on my own(but still have dependant status). I would like to hear from someone who has had a very similar situation as me and could tell me what they got? I can live off of 6000 a year EASY(have been making around that most of the time) so I am just wondering if I can even hope for that? I hear so many students talk about how their aid doesn't cover enough, but they have cars and other amenities I don't count on, so I am just wondering if I might be able to swing it by working 10 hrs a week or even perhaps none at all. Thank you very much, I am sure you get a lot of questions like this, but any answers to my situation would be greatly appreciated.
Where to find good loans and grants for college? I am a junior in college, and like everyone else, could use a little help paying for school. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good loans or even grants for college students. I have already applied for FAFSA and do not qualify. Please let me know! Thanks
When do you usually recieve Grants and loans for college? Do you usually recieve them before or after college starts and if before, usually how long before it starts do you get it? I have some things I need to get before I start college, and i was wondering if I'll get the loans and stuff in time to help me out before classes begins.
How do I know if I can get grants and loans for college? I went to school about 3 years ago, and went to jail, so i couldnt complete my classes i was enrolled in, and i was getting pell grants and student loans, so i fauled all of them. i filled out my fafsa the other day, how do i know if im still eleigible to get grants and loans? on the good side i have made an on time payment of my student loan for the past 3 years and thats not in default, will that help me in getting my aid back?
What's the best place to get grants and loans? I need good places to get loans and grants. What's the lowest interest rate for a college loan? What is considered to be an easy place to receive grants? Does the stafford loan cover housing? I need at least 15,000 which includes tuition and housing.
college grants, student loans, scholarships? im looking for anything that can help me get a car for college. i had a vehicle but it was old and finally laid down and i cant fix it, it would cost way more than its worth. i found a 2000 model Toyota Avalon for $4500, that's in excellent condition. so im looking to get a loan of some sort to buy the car for school. i can afford to pay a little a month and i know that getting a loan from the school would be the best way to go cause it will pay the car off making the car cheaper at the dealer. ANYTHING will be of help thank you i only make $400 a month. so i dont really have money to pay for car payments and insurance i only make $400 a month. so i dont really have money to pay for car payments and insurance
How do college loans/financial aid and grants work? Are grants/financial aid money two different things? I want to transfer as a sophomore next year to a liberal arts college (Eugene Lang) in New York and the tuition is very costly, almost $40,000, maybe higher. I am a freshman at a community college and I am receiving full fafsa (about $5,000) aid since I come from a low income family. I know that in order for me to go to this college I need to get loans. How exactly do they work? How much will I receive? I am not interested in private loans. Also, how much grant money will I receive from fafsa? I am familiar with Stafford loans but I don't know how they work.
Where can I find College Grants? I am currently looking for a college grant or loan. I would really like to find a grant though. I need it for this spring. I am trying to find a legit place that wont bull*** you around about getting a loan or grant.. And somewhere where perfact credit isn't a must? If anyone knows of such a place please let me know!
Must I include my College Funds/Loans in parents Income Tax Forms? I'm 18 as of now and can't find a job due to the economic crisis. I am going to college as a full time student. I am at a private college as a freshmen. However last semester I received $2400 in college refund but all that was spent on insurance, school computer and school formal clothing which is necessary. Now for this coming weeks refund I'm expecting to receive another $2400 or so. Important side note is that most of this money is a loan under my name. I maxed out my loans to $5500. I receive, Pell Grants, Cal Grants and Federal Loans. My father is the only one to work in the family. We are a family of 5. He makes about $37k a year with 2 jobs. Yet he is always "broke" due to bills and cost of living. I'll be placed as a dependent this year again on his tax forms. The thing I am wondering is if it'll be necessary to include my education costs in his tax forms? I'm hoping of this not effecting his tax refund negatively because I am in need of a car to commute to school and work. If he can get back a descent amount of money he will help me purchase a descent vehicle such as a Honda Accord to save on gas. Right now i'm constantly on job alert to pay my father back for the vehicle. So must I include my college grants/loans in his income tax forms? How will that effect the refund outcome? Please only professional responses. Thanks in advance!
I'm almost 30, needing information on how to get Grants/funding for college? I'm going to turn 30 in a few months, and I'm sick of working dead end jobs, and decided that I'm going to go to college.I don't want to get burried in college loans, and would love to see if I could get grants or other funding. However, I haven't a clue of where to start looking for grants, etc. Does anyone have any information on where I could start? Or other ways to get money for school???
college education, grants & loans for people over 30? I would like to go to college. Will the goverment help pay? I am 46yrs old and can't afford to go to school, work full time and support my small family all at the same time. I know kids who are fresh out of high school can reciueve help but can I?
College loans? I am currently planning on going to Case Western Reserve, and I have been accepted. As I see it now tuition will cost $185000 and Case has given me, via grants and work study, what looks to be about $113000. In addition, the financial aid office has offered $6000 in total loans (Perkins and Stafford). Obviously I need a big loan, but what is the best way to go about getting that? I don't know what I'm doing and my parents won't help, so I'd like to know which direction to go. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I live in Ohio, and Case required that I fill out and submit the FAFSA to them for Financial aid. Can I get aid from the FAFSA apart from Case or something? I will be a freshman, and the $185,000 is the total cost of attendance for all four years.

Question about college financial stuff (loans, grants, aid, ect...)? Okay so I'm applying for college soon. I heard that it's good to start applying for scholarships and all that junk early. If I plan on starting college next fall, when should I start applying for scholarships? And can you tell me what the difference is between student loans, financial aid, and grants? Or tell me what they are? I sort of know but not really. And if you know any good scholarships or really good websites full of them, please give me the link. Thanks!! I'll appreciate you answering whatever you can.
is there anything that caters to adults who want to go back to school college full time? (loans, grants etc)? I am really interested in going back to school. It is inevitable, a college education is minimally required for most decent jobs, especially in CA. I work full time. I make $24/hr doing a very tedious and stressful job. I cry almost everyday when it is time to go to work. I can not see myself doing this job too much longer. I am considering quitting and sacrificing the highest paying job I have ever had in order to further my education. (deferred gratification) I just do not know the first thing about how I will finance my education. Unfortunately I have no savings. I am single , no children or major responsiblities. I could relocate if necessary. My goal is to pursue my education FULL time. Can anyone suggest the best route to take for obtaining the information I need. And now, the "stupid question"....Is it necessary that I get a job at all while going to college, or can I live like some students out of high school, off of loans and scholarships? Is cost of living included ?
Can I get student loans to help live on while attending college if i get pell grants? I am 28, a single mother of 2 and I am looking to finally start attending college this year. I know that I qualify for pell grants and such to pay for tuition but does anyone know if you can recieve student loans on top of that to help with living exspenses while attending classes. I have a job I just cant work full time anymore and attend classes and still be the kind of mother my kids deserve to have. I can still work part time I just need help paying the bills while I'm in school. Please if anyone has any info on this let me know.
College money that helps pay bills ect..besides pell grants/loans? Can anyone tell me how and what are available to students in college besides pell grants and loans, money for food, shelter ect...that you don't have to pay back, anything available for college students to help pay to go, live, expenses, ect...any info would really be appreciated...not scholarships either..thanks
I'm thinking about college, and need to find out about grants or student loans. Where do I start? I'm thinking about enrolling in Purdue University here in Indiana where I work as a custodian. I'm currently planning on going for a Masters or PhD in Archaeology and wondering if there may be a site online that would have info to help people like me get financial aid. I'm also curious about grants. If I must go with a student loan, is there a site that might help me with what I should look for?
