Student Loan Consolidation Tips Knowledge Base

What's the best student loan consolidation company? I'm looking to consolidate a bunch of my federal student loans. I get tons of offers in the mail, but what's the best company to consolidate with? (Or, on the flipside, which companies are horrible?) Looking for tips, advice, anecdotes, etc., etc.
Student Loan Consolidation? Any tips on where to go for consolidating student loans? Many of the places I've looked to are not granting consolidation loans because of the credit crisis. I have a 700+ credit score but what kind of income and job history would they require for a loan without a cosigner? Looking to consolidate about $50,000
I have to pay my student loan. It's payback time. What should I do? I borrowed loan for my education and now I have to repay. Any good tip for my student loan consolidation?
Can you consolidate your loans while you're still in school? I'd like to consolidate my private loans that my family members have signed out. My understanding is that one I consolidate, they will no longer be on the loan- is this correct? Also, can I consolidate these loans while I'm still in school? Also, is consolidation affected by your credit at all? I have poor credit so I'm wondering how that will factor into it. Basically I'm just trying to figure out the student loan consolidation process so any tips or pointers would be great. Thanks!
Loan Consolidation Questions? I have some questions regarding consolidation loans. I have never taken one out before but I am thinking about consolidating my acquired debt. I do not have student loans, and the amount that I would need to consolidate would be no more that $3,000.oo Are there loans that would not require me to have a property to secure the loan? Where would I find a good lender? Do you have any other tips that I would need to know before doing this?
Tragic Student Loan Stories? My recently disabled cousin attempted suicide because of her increasing amount of debt and dire personal situation. She is under psychiatric care and I found a pro-bono attorney to help her file for disability. She can barely function and spends days at a time locked in her bedroom. I cannot honestly say that I know what she is going through, so I started looking online. All I found are tips for paying loans off and ads for loan consolidation. I think what she needs right now is support to understand that she is not alone. Do you know of any websites where "hopeless" suicidal loan borrowers might go to share their tragic stories?
Questions on Loan Consolidation? I am new to all of this because fortunately between my parents and scholarships my undergrad degree was paid in full. Yesterday Igraduated with my Masters and I have a TON of student loans to repay. The program itself was very expensive. My job does give me some reimbursement for that ($4,000 every fiscal year, as long as I still work there and until the tuition cost is paid off) but the interest that collects in the mean time is all on me and it is a lot. That said, I need to call and get my loans consolidated but I do not know the first thing about doing this. Do I call the company I have my loans through? (mostly FAFSA sponsored) Do I call a bank? What kind of information do I need to have ready to speak to them? Any tips on getting lower percentage rates? If I have a credit card with less APR than my loans would be it be wise to pay some with that because its less money or a bad idea because student loans are "acceptable debt" versus a credit card? Any advice that anyone has on how to go about this, good or bad company's, things to look out for, etc. are much appreciated!
Does anyone have tips on settling credit card debts? I want specific tips for negotiating with the credit card companies. I'm somewhat meek and I know it's going to be hard for me to really stand my ground when trying to settle. I'm a few thousand dollars in debt, haven't been making payments for about 4-5 months so they should be desperate to settle. I'm just nervous about getting them to agree on an amount I can afford. I have a student loan and I can only settle for a certain amount of that obviously. Has anyone done their own debt settling before, without a consolidation company? Thanks for any advice :) (Please don't answer the question with comments about why I SHOULDN'T settle my debts or had bad credit cards are. This is something I have obviously already realized and not what I'm asking, I am set on paying a lump sum to settle.)
What is the best way to pay off student loans? Upon completion of college, I will owe in access of $40,000 (should have chosen a cheaper University). Besides hoping for a well paying job, any tips on how to pay off the loans in a 3 year time period? I want to go to grad school but I am willing to stop after my bachelors to pay these loans down first. From my colleagues, I have been hearing that consolidation is a ripoff. I already have a part-time job and work study. Should be "excess" not "access"
