Provide ideas on how to cut your college costs with regard to student loans? USA congressional bill HR5 is being discussed today, but it only lowers interest rates on "some" college loans, and only saves a person $6.42 per month over 6 months yet 225 representatives are in favor of that bill. Please suggest better ways of saving money with regard to college education since our reps don't seem to understand the situation. emails accepted so that I can submit those to congress. actually I was looking for answers like: schooling and working at the same time; going to community college for two years and then going to a senior college to finish your education; getting grants; like telling colleges to cut their bills and not charge so much......so what are YOUR ideas so we can submit them to congress.

How can I get someone else to pay off my college loans without joining the army?? A teacher I met at a seminar told me that she got all her college loans payed off by joining some cause. I don't know exactly what it was but it sounded like, I don't know, something like Greenpeace or Habitat for Humanity. Do either of these places do that? Does anyone know of any place or any cause that you can join that will pay off your loans or at least decrease them? I know she worked for a year and she had to move to New York for it. And I know she did it right after she graduated from Notre Dame University with her undergraduate degree. The only thing is I don't even remember her name so I can't ask her myself!

Is paying off college loans manageable? I just finished undergraduate school with no loans. I am very glad. However, my degree is such that I can't do much with it unless I get a Masters. So, I'm in graduate school right now. I have to take out loans, and I'm expecting to take out a considerable amount to pay for two years of grad school. Now, even when I get my Master's degree, I will likely get a job that only pays $35,000/year, if that. I'm planning on going into teaching, and at a Catholic school. So, my question is: should I be overly concerned about paying back my loans? Has anyone else here taken out college loans and was able or are able to pay them back, even though one wasn't in a big-bucks paying profession? I really appreciate the advice!

college loans and scholarships? I am looking into some college loans that are low interest and can be re-paid after graduation but I am not sure which type is the best. A specific bank ( Chase, Citibank..) or the well known Stafford loans? Also, what are some scholarships college freshman can apply to? How do college loans work? I am currently looking for a college loan and have applied for an Education One Loan through Chase. The terms are full deferral with 4.5 Deferment Period Margin. 4.5 Repayment Period Margin and a 7.50 Loan Origination Fee Percentage. Interest is Accrual beginning on Disbursment date on each day divided by number of days at the Variable Rate. The Variable Rate is the Current Index plus a margin. Does this mean my interest is 7.95 (market) and 4.5 Margin..eg. 12.5% from the origination fee of 7.5%? I need help understanding how much this is going to cost after college. Regards, Bryan agreed. i dont want to get anally raped either. it seems like 12.5% yearly rate and a 7.5% charge on the front end. Seems high..although it is a private long term loan. I figure 14% a year in the stock market..with a trust fund building. I dont want to pay 200% in 5 years. That would be extremely high. I need this in a quick figure so I can figure out my best option. Not worrying about it...is why im getting the college loan. obiously...im looking for a private loan. i dont want to have the restrictions of a federal loan. im a rich kid. i dont live cheap.
