Private College Student Loan

Do you have to be admitted into a college 'first' in order to be approved for a private student loan?

I am a prospective college student and im probably going to survive off loans can i start early or am i goin to need to be admitted first? answers and any advise would be GREATLY appreciated :)) LUV N PEECE

  1. For private students loans, yes you need to be admitted into a college. For government loans, you do not. Fill out the FAFSA. http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ Try for free grants an loans from the gov first!!!
  2. Yes, typically you have to have proof that you're enrolled at least half time in an accredited school. This is one of the checks and balances in place to ensure these loans are not abused. Private loans typically have higher interest rates than federal loans, so make sure you max out all the federal aid available to you before getting a private loan, and then be conservative and borrow only what you absolutely need, because you'll eventually have to pay it all back.
