Private College Student Loan

can I use a private student loan for this?

can I use a private student loan to purchase a horse for college? the equestrian program I am in strongly suggest bringing a horse to college with you, so I was wondering if I can.also which one would u suggest?

  1. A horse?!?!?!?! uh huh. Well, if you receive a check personally to you, in your name, then yes you could do whatever you want with it.
  2. Well, I've never seen that question before. I'm sure the college has horses you can borrow if they have an equestrian program. Do you really want to be paying 15% interest on that horse for the next 30 years? Plus owning a horse give you the added responsibilty of upkeep... something no college student should have to be resonsible for... you time and effort and money goes to earning money to pay for that rather than studying.
  3. Talk to a counselor in the financial aid office. If it's a required educational expense then they should be able to add it to your Cost of Attendance which would give you the eligibility to borrow...you'd still need to get approved by a lender for the loan. If it's not required, you're probably out of luck. Can you borrow or rent one? It sure might be cheaper...
