Where is the best place to get a private student loan today (Citi, Chase, Sallie Mae, others)?
I am looking to take out a private student loan for my final year in college. I do not have any previous loans and will be looking to take out at least $30000. Which bank would be the best to go to (interest rates, length (15yrs?) chances of receiving the full amount?) I am still unestablished hence will most likely be signing with a cosigner in good standing. I have been looking around and it looks like with the financial crisis, Citibank, wont be the best choice. What are your opinions on Sallie Mae and Chase Student loans. I am looking for a well established loaning institution so please do not reply with offers other than industry leading institutions.

- Sallie Mae bought my federal loans when I graduated and I never had any problem with them. I made my payments on time and kept my address up to date.
- Sallie usually has the highest fees and interest rates. I wouldnt recommended them at all. Not to mention their customer service is VERY poorly rated. Chase used to have a zero fees private loan if you were in good standing credit wise. You might also check with Wells Fargo, though I am not aware of their rates and or fees. (Read and check carefully) Citi's will be tough to get and Wachovia no longer offers a private after the Wells Fargo buy out. You should try to get a Stafford first if you havent already. That will be your best bet in the long run.
