Can I still get college grants and/or student loans after 4 years in college? Taking longer to finish college?
I heard that grants stop after 4 years in the state of California.

- Depends on current total hours and gpa. There are limits. My daughter has been in school 6 years in TX. The FAFSA is federal I don't think the state should make a difference. Look in the college handbook.
- In Washington state you can. If you are still working towards your degree you can get it for however long it takes to complete that degree. However, you do have to apply and reapply every year.
- There is a 'lifetime' limit to the amount of Stafford funding you'll get as well as grants, no matter what state you live in. I don't know if you are currently in school or not. If you are, you can check with your financial aid office and they can pull it up and see what you have left in the 'bucket'. While going to school part time is the only way a lot of folks can stay in school - it has definite disadvantages because you eat up most of your funding before you even graduate.
- colleges.mywebcommunity.org - it provides some tips about applying to US federal and state grants for college students.
- Yes you can still be eligiable for grants based upon your situation. You should always apply to FAFSA and should talk to a finanical aid officer. None of us are qualified to help with this matter, because, A) we don't know your financial situation, and B) we are not trained to handle such issues.
