Private College Student Loan

Student finance (loan) application form help?

I was filling in the student loan application form for Higher education and needed some help. I hope someone can advise me. 1. If you are 22 yrs old, on income support and live with your parents does that make you independent or dependent on them? I have been on income support for the last 2 months as i am a carer. I will be getting off it wen i return to education in Sept) 2.Also is income support counted as income unearned money? 3.Should i tell Job centre plus now about me returning to education or in Sept?

  1. If you have been on benefits and work since leaving school you will be treated as independent. Your application will not be based on your parents income. You will need to prove that you have self-supported yourself for 3 years before the start of your course. Income support is not counted as income before you start your course. Yes, you should tell Job Centre Plus in September because that's when you will get your first loan instalment. If you stay on benefits, your student loan will be taken as income towards benefits.
