Private College Student Loan

Repubs get education loan part stripped out of Health Reform bill. Is this the end of the Repubican Party?

Angry Repubs have lashed out against poor and middle class students last night by making them borrow from banks at a much higher interest rates for education loans, just so the Repubs can say they attacked the Health Care Reform Bill. Is this the final end of the Republicans once and for all?

  1. I think this will be the beginning of the Public Option. Another vote now, lol. Dems have been threatened along with their aides and their family. Here comes single payer. By the way shouldn't they be stripping out pulling the plug on Grandma, oops never mind that wasn't in there. What a bunch of loonies.
  2. No! What are you on??? I was raised by an upper-middle class family who paid for 1 year of college since there were 3 of us. I had a scholarship for my undergrad and I took out a bunch of loans for living expenses at 5.75-6.75%. I came out of college in 1999 and worked hard to pay them all back. I paid every penny back because the money was on loan to me. You should not be taking out loans if you can't pay them off. I know a girl who worked 2 jobs just to pay her student loans back. Those are the type of people who should be taking out loans. Not the deadbeats that let the loan go to collection and cry that they don't earn enough to pay them back. How about taking on a second job lazy??? You shouldn't have borrowed money if you couldn't pay it back. If you don't pay it back, then you're a thief. If you were smart enough, you would have gotten scholarships. You could also have chosen to attend a state college and live at home. People want to live the college life, but they also want someone else to pay for it. Pay it back deadbeats!!!
  3. First of all WTF is student loans in the health care bill in the first place, I thought this was a Bill for health care ?
  4. Student Loans - Health Care Bill. Doesn't sound like student loans are health care. Seems to me the Republicans win again. My concern right now would be, why are Liberals now attacking their own Democratic Representatives offices and homes. Democrats are letting themselves be eaten alive by Progressives. This is finally the end of Democrats once and for all.
  5. Wow, your interpretation is amazingly faulty. They are keeping the govt from controlling student loans. They are allowing free market competition and you think that hurst the middle class. IF someone chooses to borrow from a bank at a higher rate that is their business. Govt loans are still out there. How hypocritical are you? Do you believe that the govt has the right to control the banks it loaned TARP money to? If so, should they also not have the right to tell people who get student loans what they are going to do? I mean, it was taxpayer's money that they did not earn. What is to stop them from controlling students. BTW, my student loan from a bank had the same interest rate as the govt backed loan.
