Private College Student Loan

When I take out a private loan for college, is it for one semester or two?

I have a bill for roughly $7200 past due for the first semester and I need to take out a loan asap, I also have a bill of equal amount for spring semester. The only perk is that I'm transferring spring semester (hopefully) from umass dartmouth to umass amherst. so pricing is roughly the same, but are loans given per semester or per year (private student loans)? (specifically, MEFA)

1. i took my loans out just for one semester and ill take another one out next semester. if that helps any
2. It depends on the loan, some are given for per semester and some are given per year and then split into two parts by the school for both semesters. So you'll have to check with the lender to see what kind of loan you'll be getting. I'm pretty sure most private student loans are usually per semester.
