How do the Sallie Mae student loans work?

Hello, im applying to an art school and im gonna need to take out student loans. I have heard a lot about sallie mae, but how does it work? how many different types of loans do they have? how often do people qualify? Also my school is gonna be about $80,000, im pretty sure it wont cover all of that and can you apply for more than one loan per lender? Like, for my freshman i can apply for sallie mae but for my sophmore year can i apply with them again? Im just lost, any information will help me. I would love to hear other student experiences and what they have to tell me for advice as well!! tanks so much!!!
