direct federal student loan?

how long does it take for your loan to be processed i turn my loan paper in to the school on monday when do they let you know how much you will receive and also my school said that since it my first time it will take 30 days from my start date to receive the loan so will i receive the whole half then or will it be in two installments and any other info will be help full
