Has anyone ever heard of Great Lakes NCO financial doing a tax refund reversal due to offset for student?
loans. I tried dearly to pay several times but they pushed on with high down payments and wouldn't work with me now my taxes were offset due to non payment. which I have now set up payments and all of a sudden they want to help. Has anyone ever heard of them being reversed due to hardship? what are the loop holes?? and how long does it take to get your refund back? my whole loan total was 9000.00 my refund was 7200.00 just don't see them giving it back but they said it does happen just need some advice

- While you can ask if they have a hardship provision, it doesn't mean they have one or that you qualify. The good news, the debt is now $1800 instead of the whole $9000.
- In order to have a hardship provision, you have to prove that you are in a negative financial situation Negative meaning they send you a questionnaire, outlining basic expenses and total income. They only allow for a certain amount for some things on these forms, there is a max for transportation/car ect. They only allow average food expenses, only a certain amount for daycare ect. They dont count babysitting or entertainment at all. They seem to be very strict with everything. After deducting allowable expenses from total net income, you have to be in the negative to qualify for hardship.
