Do you need to have a cosigner for sallie mae student loans?
im 17 but when i turn 18 i plan to take out student loans in my name cuz financial aid wont cover my whole tuition, my mom was supposed to get a loan form me but due to her bad credit and over 40k in student loans and my dad is unwilling to help me bcuz im not going for a "proper major" like law or anything. Im going for Fashion Merchandising. So anywho my friend told me about the sallie mae loans and I check it out and it said saomething about a cosigner so do i still need one. btw i have no job yet.

- Yes! Most of the time unless you have had a credit card or some form of credit, that you have paid off. Then yes you need a co-signer. If your parents are not willing to help you then maybe a grandparents or some other family member. Stay away from boyfriends or girlfriends, just becomes to difficult. But just keep in mind that your co-signer is responsible for your student loan payments if you can not pay them back. By the way Sallie Mae is a HORRIBLE company to go threw.
