Can I become the primary of my son's private student loan?
I cosigned with my son on three separate private loans from Chase, all deferred until the end of this year. I'm wondering if Chase would allow me to become the primary on his loan with my wife as the other cosigner? I'd like him to not start off with any loans right out of college since he is also hoping to apply to law school, where he'd probably have to apply of another loan with his wife. Thank you in advance.

- No, you cannot change who the loan is under... plus, you aren't eligible to take out private student loans because you aren't the student. You can pay off these loans anytime that you want though, or you can make the payments on these loans (instead of your son). In addition, instead of future student loans, you could take out PLUS loans for your son... these loans are in your name and you begin repayment immediately.
