What to do when I am having a hard time getting getting a student loan?
I am a novice when it comes to student loans and I am back in school. I am not a kid and have worked all my life and have good credit but somehow I am not getting approved for a student loan and school is about to start. I am not having too much luck with my cosigners and I seem to be in better standing credit wise. I applied to Capital One personal loans/ Chase personal loans/ Citibank student loans and nothing. The reason I did the personal loan option is that I needed cash fast to pay my bills but didn't get approved either. Suggestions? I am undergraduate.

- If you can't get approved for a private loan then FAFSA government loans are your only option. However, they don't give you very much and it's really too late to apply for this year. You may have to take a year off and save money to go back.
- Your denial letters from each creditor should tell you exactly why you are being declined. If you are applying for a personal loan, that is NOT a student loan and will not be the same criteria or terms as a student loan. If you need a student loan (which is to pay for your educational expenses - tuition, fees, books, etc) you need to apply specifically for the student loans, but even for those you should apply for federal loans first. Federal student loans are available to you regardless of your credit and without a cosigner but you need to apply before the time school starts. www.fafsa.ed.gov
