Do Libertarians believe in Federal Pell Grant and Student Loan funding for financially needy college students?
-I'm Libertarian. -In college 3.7 High School GPA. No scholarship unfortunately. -Parents have not so good credit. I have NO credit so private loans aren't really an option. -Even though I'm working to pay for college, I still wouldn't have enough if it weren't for the Pell Grant and Federal Student Loans.

- Yes as long as the student keeps a 3.9 GPA. We have too many career students.
- Pell Grants, Sallie Mae loans and other federal subsidies must be capped for all students. A risk premium should be added to college loans for students majoring in fields of study with no demonstrable job prospects upon graduation.
- File taxes as an independent and get student loans. It's the only way now a days. I graduated university in 2010 with $27,000 of debt. That is WITH pell grants.
- its better to learn a trade then to waste hundred of thousands of dollars on a degree that loses its value compared to the cost of tuition, why should a 3rd party subsidize someone else, why did I save to send my kids to school only to now have to pay for you and anyone else?
- Here's how I think about it. If your parents paid taxes they should get some of them back for your college.
- You are typical in supporting government programs that help you, but opposing those than don't but not a principled Libertarian.
- I believe we would all benefit from scholarships rather than government subsidies. Government subsidies and intervention is the cause of most of the market bubbles and the cause of hyper-inflated prices: i.e.: realestate bubble, rising medical care cost, college books, and college tuition. Why would a college try to compete for students when so many can get cheap loans to pay for there education with the backing of Uncle Sam? They can raise tuition as much as they want and attract better professors with higher salaries, build a new stadium, or build a parking garage. The money is too easy and experts say that a degree will payoff, which it does as long as you don't rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans. Once government is out of the market competitive schools tuition prices should lower and schools would offer more and more scholarships to attract more students. -By the way, there's nothing wrong with getting Federal aid to help with college. Be smart don't go over your head and get the most out of your education. I'm a Libertarian if the government is giving out something without strings attached - I'll take it, but I won't expect it or become dependent on it. I can find other means to get what I need and want, and so should other people.
- Student loans yes but not Pell Grants. Invest in your self and get a degree. You will make a million dollars more with a degree in your life than you will without it...why do you think others should invest in your if you won't. Loans are loans, you pay them back. You may think you are a libertarian but if you are into big government and gov in everything you do, then you are not. You must just like the name or you don't know what it means. I have two degrees, got through with the GI Bill and Student Loans, did not get a handout from anyone.
