Private College Student Loan

Do I need a cosigner applying for a Private Student Loan?

I am an 18 year old college student with no credit. I am planning to apply for a private student loan but I realized my father have bad credit. I can't find anyone else to cosign for me with good credit.

  1. no its with government.
  2. You will most likely need a cosigner. The best thing you can do is ask your grandparents or some other family member. It's a tough world out there. Good luck. Tara
  3. Yes you do have to have a cosigner. If you have exhausted all federal and state aid and still have unmet need, find a cheaper school.
  4. Borrowing money for school is just borrowing money. The lender will decide if he trusts you enough to just give you the money, or if he wants you to have a co signer. - Stuart
