- "Conditionally approved" usually means that the lender has completed a very quick and dirty credit check to ensure that you have the minimal qualifications to qualify for that particular loan product. Unfortunately, there's still a bit of verification left to do - most importantly, the lender must verify with your school that you are registered for the current semester, and that the uncovered "gap" between your COA and your other financial aid is sufficient to establish eligibility for the amount that you have requested. Generally, an educational lender will not lend you more than you "need" - and that need is established by your cost of attendance, not by the amount you request. Also keep in mind that being "conditionally" accepted does not mean that they will offer you an interest rate that you're comfortable with - they can still come back and suggest that you offer a cosigner, in order for the lender to make you a more attractive interest rate offer. But - all in all - unless you know some dirty secret about your credit record that you're wondering how they missed the first time around - as long as you are registered for classes at the school that you told them you attend, and as long as you didn't try to borrow a lot more than you need for your school expenses, you shouldn't be in for any really unfortunate surprises. Good luck to you - I hope that helped.
