Private College Student Loan

I tried Chase, Discover and Sallie Mae; who else will give student loans?

I have a past due balance of about $5000 and need a student loan fast! Apparently i'm not credit-worthy. What/who should I try now?

1. Apply for federal fin aid at http://fafsa.ed.gov As long as you are not in default on your past student loan, you can get Stafford student loans without a cosigner.
2. Look for Federal Student loans, or otherwise, get a co-signer to help you. They will go by their credit as well.
3. Having a creditworthy co-signer can improve your chance of loan approval or even improve the interest rate you get. I used Graduate Leverage and they are currently still funding federal Stafford loans and Private student loans. http://www.graduateleverage.com/index.aspx Make sure you max out all federal aid before applying for a private loan (scholarships and stafford loans etc.)
