- A small business loan is one of the most treasured commodities in the business world. It is still very hard to get despite the claims and promises of banks, credit unions, and other lending institutions that they want to help American small<!--business to survive and grow. In fact it sometimes seems that banks and other lenders want to see small businesses fail and only support those that survive the battle for customers, revenues, and finances during their first two years. http://best-loans.awardspace.com/businessloans.htm Getting a small business loan is most difficult during these first two years, when most businesses face a myriad of challenges involved with not only opening their doors, but hiring and training staff and meeting the demands of customers, clients-->suppliers and vendors. The main reason that the banks use for not granting many loans during this period is like the same reason that a student can’t get a job coming out of school. They don’t have the experience.
- Are you enrolled in a university at which there is a business program? If you are, here's what you should do. Find out about the research opportunities and grants available at your university. Check with the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs (or something to that effect) to see if your university even offers a research program. This program would be able to act as a gateway to research opportunities in the area that you are interested in. In short, this office will be able to help you find the grants that you would need to start a business. Secondly, if there are no research opportunities related to business at your school, or your school doesn't have a research department, your next stop should be the foundation of your school. Every college and university has a foundation or an office that deals specifically with grants and scholarships for students. The first place I'd look is your school's administration building, or ask the OUAA while you're there. You can also check http://www.fastweb.com. Regardless, you're going to want to sit down with a counselor at the Research or Foundation office of your school. They'll help direct you to scholarships, grants, research opportunities, and resources on or off campus. Good luck!
