Grants? Or where is a good place w/low ineterst rates to take out an additional private/personal loan to cover costs like books, a laptop, and room/board? Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  1. Did you apply to Sallie Mae for a student loan? http://www.salliemae.com/ If you did and you say it will only cover the cost of your tuition, it sounds pretty costly to me. Would you be willing to check with a different school. I was attending a school in Pa, and I had to have FASFA and student loans to cover my tuition plus I had to buy my own books and everything. I switched schools and now, my FASFA grant money covers everything, books included. If you want to discuss this further, feel free to e-mail me. I do not work for any school. Just trying to help!!
  2. Since you have applied for financial aid you should try to get a federal Perkins loan. These have low interest rates and the government will help you pay them back as long as you stay enrolled in school. You also don't need a cosigner or good credit for them. You can learn more about the loan here: http://www.studentfinancedomain.com/student_loans/perkins_student_loans.aspx Also, here are a few sites to apply for grants: http://www.fedmoney.org/ http://www.freegovmoney.net/ http://www.grants.gov/ Hope this helps!
